Perennial herb, glabrous. Stem up to 70 cm long, divaricately branched, branched from base, procumbent to ascending. Leaves basal/radical and cauline, exstipulate. Basal leaves many, rosulate, spatulate, 5-15 cm x 2-3 cm, sessile, oblong or oblanceolate-oblong, spreading, sinuate-dentate to pinnately lobed, tapering into narrow base; lateral lobes 3-7 pairs, elliptic to triangular, apex rounded to obtuse; terminal lobe lanceolate to elliptic, apex obtuse; margin of leaf or leaf-lobes white cartilaginous, denticulate. Cauline leaves few or none, sessile, subamplexicaul, smaller otherwise similar to basal leaves. Capitula 1-2 cm long and ca. 2 cm across, yellow, on bracteate peduncles, solitary or in clusters, combined into much interrupted divaricately paniculiform synflorescence. Capitula ligulate with 15-20+ florets. Involucre cylindric, 10-12 mm x 3 mm. Phyllaries 4- seriate, glabrous, green with margin broadly white scarious; outer ca. 2 mm long, gradually longer centripetally, oblong or linear-lanceolate.
